America's Hometown Senior Games

The fourth annual America’s Hometown Senior games will be held on September 13th and 14th 2008.

The games promote physical activity through camaraderie, competition, challenge and just plain fun. Entry into the events is unlimited for a $20 fee before 8/15/08. The entry fee is $25 per participant from 8/15 to 9/10.  Medals will be awarded to the top 3 in every 5 year age bracket in each event.

Participants range in age from 50 to 90 years old and are some of the most positive and enthusiastic people that you would ever want to meet. 

This Olympic-style sports festival for senior athletes allows area athletes to compete for medals in a wide variety of sports and skill contests.  Sports included are track and field, swimming, archery, shuffle board, bowling, golf, horseshoes, race walk, basketball free throw and three point, football and softball throw, table tennis and tennis.

This year’s social mixer will take place aboard the Mark Twain River Boat on Saturday, September 13th.  The cost for this event is an additional $20 per person.

The Senior Games are already a successful program in several communities around the state.  Also, participating in the local games is required before qualifying for the National Senior Games.
